ocean adventure arctic highlights northbound

Arctic Highlights Northbound

  • Overview

Ready to sail straight into the Arctic’s greatest hits — in reverse? Over 15 epic days, you’ll kick things off in Reykjavík, Iceland’s legendary Land of Fire and Ice, before heading north toward the untouched wilds of Svalbard. Along the way, cruise past towering icebergs, explore fjords by Zodiac, and wander quiet tundra trails where few travellers have stepped. From whale sightings to Inuit culture and polar bear country, every day brings a new “wow” — until your journey wraps in Longyearbyen, deep in the high Arctic and a world away from the everyday.

  • Itinerary
    • Day 1 - Reykjavik

Embark aboard the Expedition in the afternoon and depart Reykjavík in the late afternoon. Arrival transfer included.

    • Day 2/3 - Denmark Strait / Reykjavík

Enjoy the lecture series while watching the seas for whales. Head towards Iceland and the steaming hot springs of Reykjavík. The view is often complemented by soaring fulmars, kittiwakes, gannets, guillemots, and razorbills.

    • Day 4/8 - Northeast Greenland National Park

Spend a few days exploring the massive fjord system of Northeast Greenland National Park, which includes portions of Scorsbysund. Visit the tiny settlement of Ittoqqortoormiit for a look at how these most northerly people live.

    • Day 9/10 - Greenland Sea

Keep an eye out for majestic whales, which are known to feed here in the summer months. Spot orca, humpback and minke whales, as well as dolphins. Enjoy lectures by expedition staff.

    • Day 11/14 - Svalbard/Greenland Sea

Taking advantage of local ice and weather conditions, explore the Northwest Spitsbergen National Park, one of those rare places on Earth blessed with both awe-inspiring landscape and compelling history.

    • Day 15 - Longyearbyen

Shortly after breakfast, disembark the ship. Transfers to the Longyearbyen airport will be offered to all passengers with flights scheduled.

Please consider that our voyages are expeditionary in nature. This means, that there are no concrete itineraries, your captain and expedition leader will utilise their vast experience to chart the best course for your expedition depending on the climatic and environmental conditions. Extensively refurbished, the ship features upgraded engines, refreshed cabins with ensuite bathrooms, and larger social spaces for a perfect mix of slick performance, creature comforts, and that community feel.

And when it’s time to brave the Drake? Its Ice Class 1A technology, upgraded stabilizers, and a modern propulsion system deliver smoother, quieter sailing, and all with a significantly smaller carbon footprint.

With just 128 passengers, the crew aims to get each guest out on excursions twice a day (weather-permitting) — something larger vessels simply can’t offer. That means more time off ship doing what really matters: being fully immersed in Antarctica’s magic.
