    • Day 1 - Buenos Aires to Ushuaia; Embarkation Day

Your journey into wonder begins in Argentina as you fly from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia where you will be warmly greeted by the crew as you step on board Scenic Eclipse. Settle into your handsomely appointed suite. Try on your custom designed parka, head to the change room to be fitted with your boots and acquaint yourself with all the sumptuous facilities of your luxurious Discovery Yacht. Raise your glass this evening as you toast the start of your voyage at the welcome cocktail reception hosted by the Captain who will introduce your expert Discovery Leaders and their team. Set sail and cruise through the Beagle Channel and admire the dramatic views of the Andean mountains of Tierra del Fuego from the comfort of your private verandah.

    • Day 2/3 - At sea

Relax and enjoy the amazing facilities of your floating resort as you cruise towards the Antarctic Peninsula. Expertly designed to traverse the important sea trade route of the Drake Passage, Scenic Eclipse crosses faster than all other vessels, with relative ease and the utmost in comfort. Let your excitement build as you partake in an entertaining presentation by one of the Discovery Team in the state-of-the-art theatre or relax in your suite and watch the live streaming on your TV. Your palate will be delighted as you explore the extensive range of dining options or your butler will serve you in-suite.

    • Day 4/9 - Antarctic Peninsula

    Included

Lemaire Channel – get your camera ready!

In a continent of stunning views, Lemaire Channel has been called the Kodak Gap. Locked between the rocky vertical cliffs of Booth Island and the continent this one kilometer wide passage is one of the most photographed attractions of Antarctica. You will be glad your camera is digital.

    Shoot to your shutter's content!

For aspiring photographers, the best time to shoot the Antarctic landscape is definitely October, November and March. At these times the sun is much lower in the sky and thus creates beautiful twilight hues and shadows, which contrast the landscape magnificently.

Of course, if it is wildlife and Antarctica’s babies you are hoping to shoot, then January and February are the best times. Alternatively, consider an early season South Georgia & Antarctica expedition for the best of wildlife and photo opportunities in Antarctica.

    Antarctica's Babies

During January and February Antarctica's babies are born and fledging, its a magical time as new
life comes to Antarctica. The experience of seeing newly hatched penguins and seals pups just days old, is an
    experience that will last forever.

    Whales

Whale numbers swell in Antarctica over the southern summer. Arriving in Antarctica from November onwards, whale numbers reach their peak around December and January. Sightings and particularly breachings reach a pinnacle in February and March, when the Krill is closer to the surface. Some 10 species of whales are found in Antarctic water each summer, with the most abundant species being the Humpack.
