Sail in Antarctica - Fly The Drake!

  • Overview

Antarctic Fly & Sail Expedition - Fly Both Ways Across the Drake Passage and then sail in Antarctica.

The best of all worlds – an intimate up-close Antarctica experience on an Expedition Sailing Yacht combined with the convenience and time-saving travel of Flying across the Drake!

Explore Antarctica on an Expedition Sailboat where we will encounter penguin colonies, breaching whales, and Leopard Seals. Each day is something new – we take in what Antarctica gives to us, with the flexibility of a small yacht. We will visit penguin colonies and watch many types of seals. We will explore from eye level with Zodiac tours and kayaks. Plus, if the weather allows, anyone interested can sleep a night ashore!

We will be reminded of the brave souls who have come before us when we see remains of old whaling stations. If we are lucky we may even get to visit an active national science station while in the peninsula.

No matter what we do and no matter what the weather, your time in Antarctica will be one of a lifetime. Your trip will be filled with fantastic photos, unforgettable evening Zodiac rides through the ice, watching sculpted icebergs floating past. It is unlike any other place you will experience on the planet.

At the end of your trip – relax and digest your experience with two nights at Lakutaia Lodge in Puerto Williams, Chile, a remote town on Navarino Island facing the famous Beagle Channel.  From here explore the flora, fauna, and native Yaghan history of the island by visiting the museum and exploring during excellent half day and full day hikes.

The Fly in and fly out trips start and end in Punta Arenas, Chile.

SPECIAL RESEARCH SAILING TRIPS: On ALL of our voyages we will have a Guest Scientist who will be actively collecting data and doing research on the trip. Guests are invited to help with the science first hand! In addition the scientist will give presentations during the trip and will always be happy to answer questions about their on-going research.
