    • Day 1 - Buenos Aires: Arrival Day

Latin passion and European romance define the beautiful city of Buenos Aires, a dynamic mecca known for its wide-ranging architectural styles, contemporary and historic arts, and culinary pleasure. Arrive at your hotel for your one night stay.

    • Day 2 - Buenos Aires to Ushuaia; Embarkation Day

Your journey into wonder begins in Argentina as you fly from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia where you will be warmly greeted by the crew as you step on board Scenic Eclipse. Settle into your handsomely appointed suite. Try on your custom designed parka, head to the change room to be fitted with your boots and acquaint yourself with all the sumptuous facilities of your luxurious Discovery Yacht. Raise your glass this evening as you toast the start of your voyage at the welcome cocktail reception hosted by the Captain who will introduce your expert Discovery Leaders and their team. Set sail and cruise through the Beagle Channel and admire the dramatic views of the Andean mountains of Tierra del Fuego from the comfort of your private verandah.

    • Day 3/4 - At sea

Make yourself at home on board the Eclipse, where luxury is almost limitless. As you sail south, wildlife spotting opportunities abound; your Discovery Team will be out on deck looking for albatross, prions, and petrels that follow the ship. They will present lectures on the history and geology of the Falkland Islands and the Southern Ocean.

    • Day 5/10 - Antarctic Peninsula

The first sightings of icebergs and snow-capped mountains signal that you have reached the Antarctic Peninsula. Due to the extraordinary nature of the region, the sailing and expedition schedule is flexible during your time in Antarctica. Your experienced Captain and Discovery Leaders will carefully plan each day’s activities based on the conditions. Navigate some of the most beautiful waterways including Paradise Bay and the stunning Lemaire Channel where steep cliffs hem in the iceberg-filled passage. Visit a working base like Esperanza Station. At Port Lockroy, you can send a postcard home from this most remote and isolated post office to share a unique memory with your loved ones.

      Freechoice
Equipped with a fleet of Zodiacs, kayaks, snowshoes, helicopters and a submarine^, a discovery excursion will take you to the place of your wildest dreams. Depending on weather and ice conditions you will partake in an average of two excursions a day, escorted by your expert Discovery Team.

    • Day 11/12 - At sea

    • Day 13 - Ushuaia to Buenos Aires; Disembarkation

Your cruise ends this morning as you farewell the crew and disembark after breakfast to fly back to Buenos Aires taking away memories of a truly unforgettable experience.

Lemaire Channel – get your camera ready!

In a continent of stunning views, Lemaire Channel has been called the Kodak Gap. Locked between the rocky vertical cliffs of Booth Island and the continent this one kilometer wide passage is one of the most photographed attractions of Antarctica. You will be glad your camera is digital.

    Shoot to your shutter's content!

For aspiring photographers, the best time to shoot the Antarctic landscape is definitely October, November and March. At these times the sun is much lower in the sky and thus creates beautiful twilight hues and shadows, which contrast the landscape magnificently.

Of course, if it is wildlife and Antarctica’s babies you are hoping to shoot, then January and February are the best times. Alternatively, consider an early season South Georgia & Antarctica expedition for the best of wildlife and photo opportunities in Antarctica.

    Antarctica's Babies

During January and February Antarctica's babies are born and fledging, its a magical time as new
life comes to Antarctica. The experience of seeing newly hatched penguins and seals pups just days old, is an
    experience that will last forever.
